At long last, some very exciting news

Hello from a positively wild weather week. Something magical about sweating profusely in the littlest of clothing to getting drenched by a magnificent thunderstorm and feeling a little, dare I say, chilly, all in the span of four hours.

I’m writing today with a bit of NEWS from my little corner of the world. At long last, I no longer feel like I’m going to jinx anything if I tell you that come fall of this year, First Bloom will become a permanent resident of The Big Apple.

At long last, some very exciting news

To everyone who’s appreciated First Bloom thus far, who’s made the trek to Bloomville (which is still very much open!), who came to the pop-up in the city last winter: Thank you. This is happening because you came and bought a few tins of fish or several bottles of olive oil or appreciated the produce enough to take photos like it was a department store holiday window display. Your enthusiasm, encouragement and excitement for what I think is a very special little place is the biggest reason that this grocery dream is soon to be a fabulous reality.

I don’t have more to share at the moment– I think it’s just a little premature– but trust me, there will be plenty of time for me to tell you all about this wild ride and update you on what’s to come. Who knows, I might even “Vlog about it.” That said, as much as I love to keep secrets until the last possible moment, I do need to hire some really wonderful people, so: I’m posting a few job descriptions in hopes of getting some really wonderful applications.

The following jobs will be hired for a late summer start:

General Manager: A person who loves produce, spreadsheets and delivering excellent customer service in equal measure.

Head Chef: You have experience, you have skill, you have creativity, you have passion! While I think of it as a collaborative role, ultimately, it’s your kitchen, your menu, and I want everyone to know it.

Head Baker/Pastry Chef: Who wouldn’t want their own little perfect cafe of dreams to make the best baked goods in Brooklyn?

Social Media Manager (a role First Bloom will share with A Very Good Sauce): I’ll be honest, I can’t do social media anymore, but I’m hoping…YOU can? Be funny be smart be human! Make social media fun again??
