National Trust Waddesdon Manor – Part 2

A continuation of the previous post, which featured the exterior and garden of Waddesdon Manor.

There are two English sayings I learnt at school that keep surfacing in my mind each time I walk around the rooms in Waddesdon Manor: a thing of beauty is a joy forever and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I have been visiting Waddesdon for over 20 years and I still find beautiful things to look at with each new visit. I think how wonderful it is to own something exquisite that gives much happiness each time you look at it.

It is however understandable if not all the furnishings and furniture appeal to everyone. This was a house built and lived in a different age, perhaps used more for social engagements than for personal domestic arrangements.

The photos here represent possibly less than 1% of what you can see in the house. Much as I love looking at everything, I am glad I don’t have to do the cleaning!

Aspects of the Cellar, but you have to visit to appreciate the fine wines kept under lock and key

We had a most delicious Sunday Roast lunch in the Manor Restaurant

I just checked and antique Sèvres Porcelain is quite unaffordable (for me at least). I think I will stick to the lower end of the Rothschild Wines. Waddesdon Wines are available to purchase through Goedhuis Waddesdon.
