Matt came up with this slash page as the opposite of the nope page by Jack Baty.
This is the penultimate alphabet superset, and since no is technically the standout success of the set, solely by analytics anyway, I thought I'd do a more positively positioned sibling piece.
So without further babbling:
- the indie web, poetic web, tiny internets and other alternative ways of interacting with the web
- fighting nostalgia for the web. i'm not into rewilding, but maybe i could get into terraforming a new world online.
- solarpunk
- yearning. dreaming new worlds and technologies and ways to reform the online.
- maintaining. keeping the good and okay going, and the bad from creeping in.
- collectively owned subsea cables and other internet and data infrastructure
- better, safer, more fun, accessibility-enshrining platforms for us to communicate with each other on and build together
- for the digital to be optional
- an end to extracting vasts swathes of data and cash from the masses in return for very little
- communication without algorthmic interference
- for the internet or whatever comes after it to remain usable for generations to come, for planetary scale communications to always be possible for as long as humans exist
- fair ways of listening to music that compensate the artists fairly, and don't trap them in exploitation (mirlo and quboz and bandcamp)
- for moderation, maintenance and other "unglamorous" tasks that keep our systems running to be better compensated and more celebrated
this piece is part of my attempt at alphabet superset, a “6-month” creative challenge (i passed a year in september 2024 — with a long break! — and the creator of the challenge finished on 11th August 2025). other posts so far: abolition, bump, boost, culture, discussion, english, formulaic, gone, home, immortality, jargon, knowledge, leaving, monotony, no, permanent, questions, relationships, sensual, technopaganism, upload, video, waste and xenial.
